My Story

The Collapse That Changed Everything

Over three decades, I have navigated professional healthcare roles, ranging from being a single-mother medical assistant and group fitness instructor to working as a healthcare administrator, national practice management consultant, and  philanthropist. Throughout this journey, I have contributed to the growth of eight-figure businesses and even established two of my own. I share this not to impress you, but to emphasize that while I appeared to "have it all" (and I do), my go-go-go lifestyle came at a significant cost when I hit midlife. What most people did not see—including myself—was that my body was sending distress signals, indicative of metabolic chaos® that I was unable to recognize.

One quiet Saturday morning in 2017, shortly after losing a business partner to cancer and being named as Fort Worth Women of the Year for my contributions to cancer research and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, I collapsed.

This was more than just a health scare; something was fundamentally wrong. The diagnosis felt overwhelming—Acute Addisonian Crisis, a failure of my hormonal system. I confronted a reality that no business strategy could remedy: the hormones that held the keys to how well I functioned (or not) had left the building. Some of them we'ren't coming back, and I needed to learn how to restore a healthy balance within myself.

Today, I sit before you, not just recovered but also transformed. I have reversed adrenal insufficiency, eliminated all prescription medications, and reclaimed energy, clarity, and body confidence that exceed what I had in my younger years. However, the most profound change was not just in my lab results but in my clarity of purpose.

What started as my own hormonal health journey blossomed into a mission to end the hormone illiteracy that lies at the root of our nation's metabolic health crisis, disproportionately affecting women.

My Journey

When I discovered that hormones were at the root of my years-long struggle with intermittent illness—something conventional approaches couldn’t explain—the missing pieces of my health puzzle began to fall into place.

What surprised me next was that during all my medical consultations between the ages of 40 and 47, not one healthcare provider mentioned that I was in the middle of the 5-10 year period called perimenopause. This is the time during which a woman's body starts its shift into menopause, and hormone production fluctuates dramatically.

Through my training in Functional Diagnostic Nutrition®, countless hours spent in PubMed Central at the NIH Library of Medicine, and in-depth studies of the intricate connections between stress, food, metabolism, and hormones, I uncovered the scientific framework that explained my experiences. I learned to test rather than guess, to support instead of suppress, and to recognize that my body wasn’t broken; it was simply responding perfectly to an imperfect environment. Each new insight became another step forward in rebuilding my health.

My story isn't unique; it mirrors that of millions of women navigating midlife in a modern world that hasn't taught us how to interpret the signals we receive from our primal bodies. However, it doesn’t have to be your story. You don’t have to hit rock bottom to start rebuilding. You can take charge of your health, reclaim your life, feel better than before, and transform your relationship with your body before a crisis forces you to change.

I’m not a traditional hormone expert—I’m not a doctor—but perhaps that’s what allows me to translate complex science into practical wisdom that resonates with women. I was in menopause for 13 years before I found one doctor who would talk to me about it. I have walked this path not only as a healthcare consultant who understands the medical landscape but also as a patient who has experienced hormone insufficiency firsthand. Additionally, I'm a researcher and practitioner dedicated to finding answers, and I have served as a guide for hundreds of women navigating similar challenges, helping them solve complex health puzzles.

I'm on a mission to teach YOU how powerful your female body was built to be.

A few more things about me:

I'm a wife

My Partner Joe

My ride-or-die person, my partner in life, love, and business. Thank you for always being in the front row, cheering me on, and loving me. I love doing life with you!

I'm a mom

My Why

I'm healthier, more alive, and far wiser than I ever imagined I could be during the season of life called menopause.

By incorporating the principles of Functional Medicine, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® (FDN), and Fasting Like a Girl into my life, I'm growing well, not old.

As I look out over the horizon, I'm incredibly grateful for the energy that I have to give to those things that matter most to me: my family and friends, and bringing awareness to a future of healthcare that teaches YOU just how powerful your body was built to be.

I’m a grandma

My Grandchildren

The two who filled the space in my heart, which I never knew was empty. You are the best reminders of beauty and innocence that Noni could have ever asked for. I love you to the moon and back!
